In 1920, on the 1st of November, in Hamburg / Germany, it was decided to found the company Remy & Co. Kommanditgesellschaft. The first entry in the commercial register was made on the 4th of November 1920 under the number HRA 24600. Founding members were Mr. Hermann Remy and Dr. Rudolf Mutz, partners were also Mr. Emil Blum and Mr. Georg Mutz. As Mr. Emil Blum had good connections to Chemische Industrie Corporation in Gelsenkirchen – Schalke, Remy & Co. received the rights of sale for some of the products of this company. Additionally, close contacts to other German manufacturing companies such as Mathes & Weber, Duesseldorf, Chemische Fabrik Koeln Kalk and other well-known German manufacturers were established. This was the basis of the growth of the company. At the beginning, Scandinavian countries were important markets for Sodium Sulfate and Litophone, which was used for the production of cellulose and paper. Locally Remy & Co. was trading with photo chemicals which were imported from India.
In 1925, Mr. Hans Blum and Mr. Otto Krueger joined the association of Remy & Co. as personally liable partners.
In 1931, the company Becker & Franck Nachf. was taken over which was the basis for the activities in Latin America. Becker & Franck Nachf. was established in 1843 and by 1931, they already had long-lasting experience and good contacts in South America.
In 1936, Mr. Hermann Remy, after whom the company had been named, retired.
During World War II the premises of Remy & Co. in Hamburg were completely destroyed by bombings.
In 1944, in the private residence of the partner Dr. Rudolf Mutz in Ahrensburg, the reconstruction of the company was started. In the years 1946 to 1948 old contacts assigned to Remy & Co. the responsibility of the distribution of the Import Quota for the Occupying Powers in Hamburg.

In 1962, after the passing of Mr. Otto Krueger, Mr. Kristian Krueger became personally liable partner and is still today active in the company. Remy & Co. diversified their activities and benefited from the slowly developing sulphur industry in West Germany at the end of the 1950ies / beginning of the 1960ies, and from the inner German trade with the former German Democratic Republic (GDR). Additional activities were developed in Asia and Africa.
In 1978, Remy & Co. founded a representative office in Caracas/Venezuela and herewith started to intensify their sales activities in the region of the Andes in South America.
In 1989, due to the reunification of Germany and the end of the inner German trade, a redirection was necessary. Focus of the redirection of our activities were marketing strategies for manufacturing companies in the markets that were our sales markets for a long time, as well as the inclusion of Specialty Chemicals in our delivery program.
In 1997, the office in Venezuela became an independent company under the name of REMY & STUTE C.A.
Until today, they have close business connections to Remy Hamburg.
In 2008, a complete re-structuring of the company took place. We have moved our office and are now:
